Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio is "very confident" that it will meet its sales target for the year, according to company founder and CEO William Li. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has seen strong demand for its vehicles and has been ramping up production to meet that demand.

Nio has set a goal of delivering 100,000 vehicles in 2021, which would represent a significant increase over the 43,728 vehicles it delivered in 2020. The company has already delivered over 73,000 vehicles through the end of October, putting it on pace to meet, and possibly exceed, that target.

In addition to robust demand for its vehicles, Nio has also been benefiting from favorable government policies aimed at promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in China. The country is the world's largest auto market and a key battleground for EV makers like Nio, Tesla and others.

Investors seem optimistic about Nio's prospects, with the company's stock price up more than 70% year-to-date. Nio also recently announced plans to expand into new markets, including Norway, as it looks to continue its rapid growth trajectory.

Despite the challenges facing the auto industry more broadly, Nio's strong sales figures and expansion plans bode well for the company's future. If it can continue to execute on its growth strategy, it could emerge as a key player in the global EV market in the years ahead.
