GMC Sierra And Yukon Get Duramax Diesel DEF Sensor Fix

General Motors has announced a fix for the DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) sensor issue on the 2020-2021 GMC Sierra and Yukon equipped with the Duramax diesel engine. The problem was first identified by GM engineers earlier this year, and a software update has been developed to correct the issue.

DEF is required for modern diesel engines to meet emissions standards, and the sensor issue could cause reduced engine power and increased emissions. However, GM says that there have been no reported accidents or injuries related to the problem.

Owners of affected vehicles are being contacted by GM and can take their vehicle to a GMC dealer for the free software update. The update should take less than one hour to complete.

The affected GMC models include the 2020-2021 Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 full-size pickups, as well as the 2021 Yukon full-size SUV.

GM says that the fix is the result of a thorough investigation into the issue and that it is confident the software update will correct the problem and prevent any future issues. The company is committed to ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its customers and encourages any affected owners to take their vehicle in for the update as soon as possible.
