Originally scheduled to begin production in November 2022, the Fisker Ocean is now expected to start production in the first quarter of 2023, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The delay is reportedly due to software issues that have slowed down the development process. Fisker has been working to develop the Ocean's software system, which is expected to be a key selling point of the vehicle, but has faced challenges in getting it to work as intended.
The Fisker Ocean is expected to offer a range of up to 300 miles on a single charge and will be priced starting at $37,499. The vehicle will also feature a number of high-tech amenities, including a large, centrally-mounted touchscreen display and a suite of advanced safety features.
Despite the setbacks, Fisker remains confident in the Ocean's potential and is committed to delivering a high-quality product to its customers.
"We are committed to taking the necessary time to ensure that the Fisker Ocean is a world-class product, and we will not compromise our high standards for the sake of meeting an arbitrary deadline," said Henrik Fisker, founder and CEO of Fisker Inc.
The delay comes as the electric vehicle market continues to heat up, with a growing number of automakers entering the space. Fisker is hoping to carve out a niche with the Ocean, which will offer a blend of performance, style, and sustainability that sets it apart from its competitors.
